The nation remembered former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 34th death anniversary today with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his predecessor Manmohan Singh, former President Pranab Mukherjee, and several other leaders paying tributes to her.
Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, party President Rahul Gandhi, and Singh were the first ones to pay floral tributes to the late Prime Minister at her memorial, Shakti Sthal.

Later, Sonia, Rahul, Singh along with Mukherjee and former Vice President Hamid Ansari attended a prayer meeting at the Indira Gandhi Memorial at 1, Akbar Road in New Delhi. Many former Union ministers, senior Congress leaders and Members of Parliament were also present.

Trivia: Indira Gandhi named 'Woman of the Millennium' in 1999
Born to Kamala and Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi became India's first and only woman Prime Minister in 1966.
As a PM, she was known for her unprecedented centralization of power and was named 'Woman of the Millennium' in an online poll organized by the BBC in 1999.
She was assassinated this day in 1984 by two of her security guards.
