Strong tremors across Afghanistan-India-Pakistan, Delhi, UP, Punjab affected
What's the story
Strong tremors were felt in several parts of North India including Delhi, J&K, UP, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab at 12:40pm today.
Parts of Pakistan also shook, including Lahore, Islamabad and Kabul.
According to initial reports, it measured 6.1 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was in Hindukush, Afghanistan, near its border with Tajikistan.
No damage has been reported yet.

Quake hit at a depth of 189km
The quake in Delhi lasted more than a minute. In Srinagar too, strong tremors were felt.
There was chaos as people rushed out of their homes and offices in the capital as well as in Noida, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the depth was 189km, possibly why no damage was seen.

Last earthquake in Delhi on December 3
The last earthquake felt in Delhi and neighboring areas was on the evening of December 3. The magnitude was 5.5 and the epicenter was Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand, at a depth of 30km. No loss of life was reported.
