Now, book train tickets via Paytm at zero extra cost
There's a good number of third-party payment gateways that facilitate online train ticket bookings. Paytm is one of the oldest and most popular among these. If you're one of Paytm users, here's some good news for you. In a bid to making online train reservations simpler and cheaper, Paytm has waived off service charge on train ticket bookings done through its platform. Here's more.
Here's what the Paytm VP said about the waiver
"Till October 2018, we used to charge a Payment Gateway fee, which is equivalent to 1.8% of the total order value on train ticket bookings. We are happy to have waived it off completely and offer this benefit to travelers," said Abhishek Rajan, Paytm Vice-President.
The math behind the decision
Recent reports suggest that Paytm witnessed more than threefold growth in its travel business, with 38 million plus tickets sold in FY 2017-18. The travel customer base of the website also doubled to 9 million, last year. Notably, in addition to ticket bookings, users can also check their train PNR status, seat availability and nearby station suggestions, on the Paytm app and website.
