Woman killed in tiger attack in MP's Kanha reserve
A 56-year-old woman was fatally attacked by a tiger in the Kanha Tiger Reserve (KTR) in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district, police reported on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Monday evening when Kalawati Dhurve, her daughter, and a neighbor ventured into the forest, according to Ramkumar Raghuvanshi, the in-charge of Baihar police station. The tiger killed Dhurve and consumed parts of her body.
Search operation launched
Her daughter and neighbor escaped and alerted the family about the tragic event, Raghuvanshi added. After the attack, a joint team of KTR authorities and local police initiated a search operation. The following day, they discovered mutilated body parts believed to belong to Dhurve.
Local authorities issue warnings
Following the tragic event, local authorities have issued warnings to residents, advising them against venturing into forest areas. This precautionary measure is seen as a necessary step to prevent further incidents of this nature from occurring. The community has been urged to remain vigilant and prioritize safety while living in close proximity to the wildlife reserve, reports.
