Man commits suicide after harassment by Ganesh pandal organizers
A 55-year-old man, Dhannu Lal Sahu, has allegedly committed suicide in Durg district, Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred after a dispute with local Ganesh pandal organizers over loud music. According to the police, Sahu and his family had objected to the high volume of music from a nearby Ganpati pandal on Saturday night. Despite being informed about Sahu's heart condition, the organizers refused to lower the sound level.
Police intervention and subsequent suicide
Following the disagreement, Sahu contacted the police helpline 112. A team arrived at the scene and persuaded the organizers to reduce the volume. However, tensions continued between both parties, leading them to visit a police station without filing any complaints. On Sunday morning, Sahu was found dead in his home with a note accusing one of the pandal organizers of harassment. The police are currently verifying its authenticity.
Investigation underway
Following the discovery of Sahu's body, a case of accidental death has been registered under relevant sections. The police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his alleged suicide. The authenticity of the suicide note found at the scene is also being verified as part of this ongoing inquiry.
