'Men are lonely..': TCS employee dies by suicide, blames wife
What's the story
Manav Sharma, an employee of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), died by suicide at his Agra residence earlier this week.
Before taking the extreme step, Sharma recorded a seven-minute video blaming his wife for his decision and asking authorities to pay more attention to men's issues.
"The law needs to protect men," he said in the video, warning of a future where there might be "no men left" to blame.
Emotional plea
Sharma's video message highlights men's loneliness
In the video, Sharma accused his wife of cheating but didn't divulge further details.
"I found out that my wife was sleeping with someone else. But let that be."
He said he wanted to go home and repeatedly urged viewers to think about men in their lives.
"I have no issue with going home...Yet, even now, I am saying this: Please think about men...talk about men, they are so lonely," he said.
He also apologized to his parents.
Viral impact
Sharma's video goes viral, sparks discussions on men's mental health
"Dad sorry, Mummy sorry...But guys, please understand, as soon as I go, everything will be fine. Everything will get better once I die. So, let me go," he said in the emotional video.
Sharma's video has since gone viral, triggering widespread conversations on men's mental health and societal pressures.
He ended his message by requesting others not to harm his parents and signed off with "peace out."
Counter reply
I have stopped him at least 3 times: Wife
Shortly after the video was released, the wife, Nikita, recorded a counter-video in which she refuted the accusations.
"The day he died by suicide, he had dropped me at my maternal home. Whatever claims he has made about me, it is about my past. It is not related to anything after our marriage. He has tried to harm himself multiple times before...I have stopped him at least three times. He used to drink and beat me up too," she said.
Allegations
His parents told her the issue is between husband, wife
She also stated that she told his parents about his attempts to kill himself, but they did nothing.
"I had told his parents everything, but they said the issue is between husband and wife....I called up his sister too and informed her about him attempting to die by suicide. To this, she told me to sleep and said he would not do anything," she added.
She also shared chats showing her making desperate pleas to his sister to stop him.
