Karnataka: Man beheads minor fiancée after engagement called off
A 32-year-old man in Karnataka allegedly beheaded a 16-year-old girl he was supposed to marry after the Commission for Protection of Child Rights stopped the engagement ceremony due to the girl being a minor. Both families had agreed to end the engagement and cancel the event after the commission was alerted about the illegal ceremony. However, the man, Prakash, forcefully entered the girl's house and assaulted her parents and dragged the girl out of her home.

He then allegedly beheaded the girl before fleeing the scene. Reportedly, the incident occurred just hours after the engagement was called off. Prakash has been missing since the incident and the local police have initiated a search operation to apprehend him. According to Kodagu SP K Ramarajan, the girl passed her SSLC exam on Thursday and was the only student at her school.
Victim's father, mother admitted to hospital
The victim's father and mother have been admitted to a hospital. A case has been registered against Prakash under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act, police said.
