Madhya Pradesh: 6-year-old boy stuck in borewell for 45hrs dies
A six-year-old boy who fell into a 70-foot-deep open borewell in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district was taken out on Sunday after 45 hours of rescue operations. However, he was "unresponsive," according to an official. He was reportedly stuck at a depth of around 40 feet. The boy had fallen into the borewell on Friday afternoon while playing near it.
Multi-agency rescue operation fails to save child
The rescue mission involved multiple agencies, including the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF), the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local administration. Oxygen was continuously supplied into the 70-foot-deep borewell in an attempt to keep the boy alive, while parallel pits were dug in an effort to reach him. Despite these extensive measures, Rewa Collector Pratibha Pal announced on Sunday that the child was "unresponsive."

Narrow borewell challenges rescue, leads to tragic end
"The boy was located at around 8 am. We made all efforts but could not save the child as the borewell was too narrow," Pal said. Pal explained that despite the best efforts of all involved, the rescue mission was unsuccessful due to the narrowness of the borewell. Unseasonal rains also affected the rescue operation. On Sunday afternoon, the boy's body was transported to a hospital for postmortem.
