Family initiates fundraising for repatriation
In a bid to bring their loved one home, Antil's family has started a GoFundMe campaign to cover repatriation costs. Romit Antil, Chirag's brother, who resides in Haryana, shared fond memories of his sibling with CityNews. He remembered Chirag as a cheerful person known for his politeness. "He was kind of happy, he never had any issues or fights with anyone, ever. He was an extremely polite person," Romit said. The fundraising campaign is currently active and accepting donations.
Antil's journey to Canada for education
Antil had moved to Vancouver in September 2022 for his studies. He recently completed his MBA from University Canada West and had just received his work permit when the tragic incident occurred. Just days ago, an Indian-Canadian construction company owner was shot dead at a construction site. Buta Singh Gill, the proprietor of Gill Built Homes Ltd., was discovered dead on Monday after shots were fired at an apartment complex his company was building in the Cavanagh neighborhood.
