Delhi: Traffic advisory issued ahead of PM Modi's Dwarka rally
The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public rally in Dwarka, southwest Delhi, on Wednesday. The rally is being organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party as part of its Lok Sabha elections campaig. It will commence at 6:00pm at Dwarka Sector-14 DDA Park. The police announced on X (formerly Twitter), "Traffic Advisory: Special traffic arrangements will be effective at DDA Park, Sector-14, opposite Vegas Mall Dwarka, New Delhi on May 22, 2024."
Traffic diversions and road closures announced
In its advisory, the Delhi Police announced that several routes have been diverted, including Kargil Chowk, Sector-18, Dwarka; DXR T-point on Golf Course Road; Shani Bazar Roundabout Crossing, Sector-16B, Dwarka; ISKON Chowk, Sector-13, Dwarka; and Sector-16B Crossing. Commuters are advised to avoid certain roads, such as Road No. 201 and others leading to Om Apartment Chowk, Sector 14, and the Radisson Blue Hotel, up to DXR T Point on Golf Course Road.
Delhi Traffic Police encourages use of public transport
To avoid traffic congestion, the Delhi Traffic Police has advised those heading to ISBT, railway stations, or airports to plan their journeys in advance due to the rally. The general public and motorists have been requested to remain patient, follow traffic rules and road discipline, and comply with directions from traffic personnel at intersections. They are also encouraged to stay informed via the Delhi Traffic Police's official website and social media channels and use public transport if possible.

Rally precedes sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections
Delhi will go to the polls in the sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, which will take place on Saturday, May 25. The results for the same will be announced on June 4. Currently, all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi are held by the BJP. Dwarka falls under the West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, which is represented by Parvesh Sahib Singh.
