#JEEAdvanced2019: Tips for parents of students appearing for JEE-Advanced
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), comprising Main and Advanced exams, is the most challenging engineering entrance exam for admission to top institutes. The JEE-Advanced, the gateway to admission to IITs, is scheduled for 27 May this year. Exam preparation can be a stressful time for students, and parents play an essential role during this time. Here are some tips for parents of JEE-Advanced aspirants.
Parents should help their kids plan their study
The JEE-Advanced 2019 is just a week away and aspirants must create a fresh study timetable and plan their study carefully for every subject. Parents can help their children in preparing a study timetable, ensuring they have sufficient time to revise all the subjects thoroughly. They should also make sure that their kids take breaks in between study sessions to relax.
Keep a tab on your child's schedule
Parents should also keep a tab on their child's study schedule and ensure that they stick to their study timetable without fail. They should try to curb any sort of distractions so that the student's study sessions do not get affected. They should, however, not interfere with their preparation process unnecessarily. They can give suggestions or advice to improve their performance.
#3: Parents can help their children in preparation
Parents can also assist children in studying for the exam, if they have relevant knowledge of the subjects. They can sit with them and clear any doubts they have. However, they shouldn't force the children and let them study/revise at their own pace.
Parents should always encourage and motivate children
This year, over 1.6 lakh students would appear for JEE-Advanced of which around 11,000 would get admissions at IITs. The competition is very high; so, instead of pressurizing their children, parents should encourage or motivate them to study well for their own benefit. They should also help them realize that even if they aren't selected, it's not the end of the world for them.
#5: Make sure that children maintain good health
While parents must ensure that their children study properly for JEE-Advanced, they should also ensure their kids take breaks, eat healthy food, relax, and get sufficient sleep too. They shouldn't force students to study for longer periods as it might affect their health negatively.
