#CareerBytes: How to start preparing for JEE in Class-11?
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is the most difficult engineering entrance exam for admission to top technical institutes. JEE comprises Main and Advanced exams. Class-11 is considered the ideal time to start preparing for the JEE. However, many Class-11 students are often confused about how they can start preparing for the JEE. Here are some tips for Class-11 students to start preparing for JEE.
Class 11 students must first plan how to study
Many feel Class-11 is the best time to start preparing for JEE. Students must first strategize their preparation process and have a proper study plan to cater to the Class-11 curriculum and JEE preparation; they should allot sufficient time to both. One must adhere to their schedule and learn to utilize and manage time properly. They should have daily, weekly, and monthly study targets.
Revise and practice regularly, collect good books and material
Students must spend enough time on revising/practicing the Class-11 syllabus topics as well as JEE topics regularly. They should focus on NCERT textbooks and also collect good books and study material for JEE preparation. However, consulting too many books may lead to confusion. One should first focus on learning the basics and follow NCERT textbooks, which are useful for both Class-11 and JEE exams.
#3: Maintain a separate book to note down important points
While studying/revising the topics, students must note down all important points in a separate notebook chapter-wise; they should have a notebook for formulae, theorems, and reactions. Maintaining a separate notebook for each subject is recommended; this would be extremely useful for a quick revision.
Join online or offline coaching programs, take mock tests
Students can give a boost to their preparation process by joining offline coaching classes or online preparation programs designed for Class-11 students; however, this is optional. There are many online test series available for Class-11 students. They can take mock tests or chapter-wise tests to test their preparation. This would also help them familiarize with the exam pattern, analyze their performance, and build confidence.
#5: Do not ignore Class-11 syllabus
Many students tend to focus more on JEE preparation and ignore Class-11 curriculum, but it's a grave mistake. Students shouldn't take Class-11 lightly, it's very important to crack JEE. One must focus on every concept of every subject and shouldn't ignore anything in Class-11 syllabus.
