Three terrorists killed in Srinagar encounter, three security personnel injured
Three terrorists were killed in an encounter this morning in Chattabal, near Srinagar, J&K DGP Shesh Paul Vaid said. Three security personnel also reportedly sustained injuries. The incident triggered protests and stone-pelting by locals. One civilian died in a road accident amid the chaos, but locals alleged he was run over by a vehicle of the forces. Three photojournalists were also wounded, HT reported.
Encounter broke out after terrorists fired on security personnel
The encounter broke out when a team of CRPF and police launched a cordon and search operation in the area based on a tip-off. Officials said the terrorists opened fire on the jawans, who retaliated and eliminated three of them. Their identity hasn't been revealed. Two CRPF personnel and one policemen sustained injuries. Later, forces recovered three AK47 rifles and ammunition from the site.

Clashes erupt between locals and security forces
Later, clashes broke out between residents and security forces and mobile internet services were snapped. During the protests, Adil Ahmad Yadoo was involved in a road accident at Noorbagh, close to the encounter site. He was rushed to SMHS hospital where he was declared brought dead. There was commotion at SMHS when some youths tried to take away his body.
Three photojournalists sustain injuries while covering protests
Three photojournalists- Umar Asif, Javed Dar and Farooq Khan- were injured. While Asif was hit in the face and had to get stitches, Dar was hit by a brick in his stomach and has been hospitalized, and Khan was hit on his arm by a stone.
