IIT-Delhi twins who cracked CAT 2018 share their success story
While the Common Admission Test (CAT), every year, produces exemplary success stories, it's perhaps special when two people, born on the same day and at the same time, make it to the elite 99-percentile club. Twins Abhishek and Anubhav Garg, who cracked the JEE exam, and studied at IIT-Delhi together, also cracked CAT with flying colors. Here's what they had to say.
Anubhav was just 0.2 percentile points shy of Abhishek's score
When the CAT 2018 results were declared, Abhishek and Anubhav could hardly contain their joy as they both cruised past the 99-percentile mark. While Abhishek became the CAT topper from Delhi, Anubhav was just 0.2 percentile points behind his twin brother. Coincidentally, Anubhav happens to be born two minutes after Abhishek. A fitting result, many would say.
This year, all 100-percentile scorers were male engineers
This year, 11 people made it to the elite 100-percentile club in CAT 2018, and all 11 were male engineers. Last year, two girls and three non-engineers had bagged the perfect score.
The Garg brothers have a dream of studying at IIM-Ahmedabad
For a long time, the twins had had a dream of pursuing their MBA from the top management college in the country - IIM-Ahmedabad. They told the press that their father Tarun Garg - who is an IIM-Lucknow alumnus and an executive director, marketing, in Maruti Suzuki India - had inspired them to take up a career in management.
The CAT preparation strategy adopted by the Garg brothers
Speaking on the secret behind their success, the Garg brothers revealed that self-study and regular mock tests had catapulted them to CAT glory. Detailing their strategy, the twins said that they had particularly focused on the quant section while preparing for CAT, and incidentally, the quant section turned out to be the most challenging section this year.
The brothers express their gratitude towards parents, teachers
"Apart from my parents, teachers in TIME Delhi helped us a lot in preparing for the examinations," said Anubhav, while Abhishek said, "Repetitive mock tests is the key to success."
