#TooManyEmotions: 'Proud' Constable-father salutes his IPS-son, says work comes first
When Anoop Kumar Singh took charge of Lucknow as SP on Saturday, among the ones saluting him was his father Janardan Singh, a constable posted at Vibhuti Khand police station. For Janardan, the officer is his son later, a senior first. He said he would continue following his orders, reports TOI. The story of this constable father and his IPS officer son is incredible.
Anoop's day begins by touching his father's feet
Anoop, a 2014-batch IPS officer, said his father was his inspiration and he lives by his principles. He said his day started by touching his father's feet. Further, he revealed Janardan never pressurized him to study, but spoke about virtue and integrity. The father taught him even if he became a gardener, he should take care of the plants as his own child.
Though the family faced financial constraints, his study never suffered
About his childhood, Anoop said his father used to take him and his sister Madhu on a bicycle to their school in Barabanki. Despite financial crunch, his studies never suffered, the fee was paid on time, Anoop revealed. "He would go on duty and we would not meet for months, but he kept a tab on our studies and activities," he added.
Even the family didn't think he would become an officer
Anoop's mother Kanchan said they never thought he would become an IPS officer. She said he excelled in sports and other activities. "We realized his potential when he cracked the entrance exam of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for doing masters in geography," she added. At home, though, there is no IPS officer or constable and the family eats meals together.
I will salute him, says emotional and proud Janardan
But the proudest moment is for Janardan, who choked while speaking about his son's achievements. "I will salute him just like I would do to greet any other officer. I will obey his orders," he said. Janardan added he would ensure their relationship doesn't affect work. Amid the emotions, the Singh family is just glad they will celebrate Diwali together this year.
