UP Minister Rajbhar's convoy crushes five-year-old boy to death
Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar's convoy allegedly ran over a five-year-old boy, killing him in the state's Gonda district. The incident took place when the boy was playing near a footpath on the Colonelganj-Paraspur route. Rajbhar allegedly fled from the scene immediately without even stopping to help the boy. Angry locals staged a protest on the road with his body.
Boy's father registers FIR in Colonelganj
Additional Superintendent of Police (Gonda) Hridesh Kumar has stated that the boy, Shiva Goswami, died after being hit by a car in Minister Rajbhar's convoy. The victim's father, Vishwanath, has filed an FIR. A case under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) was registered. Police said the victim's body has been sent for post-mortem.
Police advised me not to go back: Rajbhar
Minister Rajbhar claimed he didn't immediately know that the child was killed by his convoy. However, he added: "I didn't go back to the spot as I was already 25km away. Police officials advised me not to go back as people were protesting."
CM Adityanath urges police to take immediate action
Rajbhar, UP's Minister for the Department of Backward Classes Welfare and the Department of Disabled People Development, said that he would go back and meet the victim's family. Meanwhile, UP CM Yogi Adityanath responded to the tragic incident and announced Rs. 5L compensation to the boy's family. He also sought a detailed report from the Director General of Police.
