J&K: Another terrorist attack in Handwara; 3 CRPF jawans martyred
At least three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans have been killed and seven others injured in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Handwara on Monday. The terrorists attacked a CRPF patrolling party, which triggered a gunfight. One of the terrorists has been neutralized. This is the second attack by terrorists on security forces in Handwara in 48 hours. Here are more details.

According to reports, the terrorists targeted a patrolling party of the paramilitary force and opened heavy fire at the personnel. The CRPF personnel then retaliated with counter fire, triggering a gun battle. The attack took place in near the Qaziabad area in Handwara's Wangnam. "Encounter is underway. We have suffered some casualties," a CRPF officer told NDTV.
Area cordoned off; reinforcements rushed to spot: Officials
Officials said that the area where the attack took place had been cordoned off, and additional forces were also rushed to the spot to track down the terrorists. The officials also added that they are awaiting further details.
CISF jawan also injured in separate attack
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel was also injured on Monday in a grenade attack by terrorists in the Nowgam area of Jammu & Kashmir's Srinagar. According to officials, the terrorists hurled a grenade at a CISF camp that was guarding a power grid station in Wagoora, which comes under the Nowgam police station area.
Five security forces personnel killed on Sunday
Monday's terror attack is the second one in the region in the past 48 hours. Five security forces personnel, including four Indian Army personnel and one Jammu & Kashmir Police sub-inspector, were killed on Sunday. Also, two terrorists were killed by security forces in the Sunday encounter. One of the slain terrorists was reportedly identified as a top Lashkar-e Taiba commander from Pakistan.

The Sunday encounter in Handwara claimed the lives of the Commanding Officer of 21 Rashtriya Rifles unit Colonel Ashutosh Sharma, Major Anuj Sood, Naik Rajesh, and Lance Naik Dinesh. J&K Police Sub-Inspector, Sageer Ahmad Pathan, was also martyred in the gun battle.
