Woman says #MeToo, accuses Terribly Tiny Tales co-founder of rape
Apart from bringing to fore sexual predators, the #MeToo movement has also been traumatic for survivors as it's bringing back memories of what happened. One such horror is what the accuser of Chintan Ruparel had to go through. Chintan, the (ex) founder of Terribly Tiny Tales, was accused of rape by an anonymous woman on Medium. Details of what happened to her are gut-wrenching.
The terrible tormentor, Chintan, you are a rapist: Woman
By the end of the post, which highlights the details, the woman called Chintan a rapist. Those believing women in the #MeToo storm, wouldn't doubt her choice of words. On the fateful day, Chintan asked if he could come over to watch a football match. Since he was a former colleague from an ad agency, the woman agreed. Minutes later he entered her bedroom, uninvited.
Chintan wanted to see football match, complimented her 'sexy legs'
The victim had a breakup recently, a fact Chintan was fully aware of. About her condition, she wrote, "My eyes were puffy, body aching, heartbroken, wounds fresh and spirit shattered and he knew this". Three minutes into the game, he looked up from the screen and complimented her 'sexy legs'. This made her conscious and she told him maybe she should have worn pants.
Woman asked Chintan to stop, he kept kissing her
Chintan then started kissing the woman, and when she resisted he said, "Shut up, you know you like this". Her continuous pleas fell on Chintan's deaf ears and without her consent he laid her on the bed. "He forces his way through my mouth, bites my neck, shoulder and pushes himself against me then into me, over and over again," she wrote.
"I tell him it's hurting, he dig his teeth deep"
"I tell him it's hurting me multiple times as his teeth dig deep into my skin and I ask him to stop, repeatedly. He did not and under the weight of his body, my attempts to push him were futile," she wrote.
Pushed into depression, woman lost all will to live
Though in excruciating pain, the woman couldn't utter anything being shocked at what happened. She wrote the incident broke her and it pushed her to a depression so deep she lost her will to live. She visited a local therapist, who she said, checked up on her every third hour to ensure she didn't kill herself. Her nights were spent shivering in her room's corner.
You are a rapist, woman writes in post
"I quit advertising, Bombay and that disgusting grind and moved far away from this pain but it didn't leave ever leave me. This Terribly Tiny Tale is written for you Chintan. Chintan Ruparel, you are a rapist. Let that sink in, finally," she wrote.
Earlier, another woman accused Chintan of not respecting consent
Notably, this isn't the standalone allegation leveled against Chintan. Earlier this month, an anonymous woman wrote on Medium the night she spent with him was horrible, and she prayed she should've been raped instead. In this case, too, Chintan started making out with the woman without her consent. She wrote she was done blaming herself and spoke up after gaining a lot of courage.
A former TTT writer also accused Chintan of misconduct
Another woman who accused Chintan is Shrutee Choudhary, a former writer of TTT. She met him through Instagram and he was seemingly impressed with her writing. Once Chintan told Shrutee he would never touch her without consent, and then tried 'convincing' her. When she finally gave in, she learned of his beastly instincts. All he said was that his ex-wife was fine with it.
You bit me then laughed at the bruises: Shrutee
"You bit me. My entire back. Hard. And you laughed in the morning at those bruises. "I did that?" Hahahaha. My arm had a bruise the size of a face, it didn't fade for a couple of weeks," Shrutee wrote.
Since then Shrutee has been collecting stories of Chintan's accusers
Calling out the sexual predator, Shrutee wrote she knew there are more women. Since she gathered the courage to speak up, she has been giving voice to others who have been assaulted by Chintan. The details of Chintan's conduct can be found on her Instagram. Shrutee also lashed out at Anuj Gosalia, CEO and co-founder of TTT, for having "no clue" about Chintan's behavior.
Meanwhile, TTT asked Chintan to step down
"This is to inform that Chintan Ruparel, Co-Founder at TTT, has stepped down from his position as Chief Content Officer on Monday, October 8, and will not be associated with TTT," a statement from TTT, which enjoys large social presence, read after the allegations surfaced.
The woke men and power abuse
Chintan's is a case of gaslighting, power abuse, sexual predators using their charm and objectification of women, all bundled into one. He used his appeal (which his accusers say swept them) to imbibe trauma on women who looked up to him. Till now he hasn't addressed the allegations and his Instagram account is now private. And what did we learn? Wokeness doesn't translate to understanding consent.
