Unseasonal heavy rainfall in Telangana claims 13 lives
An unseasonal heavy downpour on Tuesday night in Telangana resulted in the deaths of 13 individuals, as confirmed by local law enforcement. In Hyderabad, heavy rains, ranging from 30mm to 109mm, disrupted power supplies, destroyed trees, and caused traffic disruptions until midnight. Seven people, including a four-year-old child, also lost their lives when a retaining wall at an under-construction apartment collapsed in the Bachupally area.
Other fatalities across Telangana due to rainfall
In other parts of Telangana, two bodies were discovered in a drain at the Customs Colony in Begumpet on Wednesday morning. According to the police, they may have mistakenly fallen into the open drain amid the heavy rain last night. The bodies were sent to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary, and efforts were made to identify them.
Lightning strike kills 1 in Siddipet district
In a separate incident, two workers died due to a wall collapse at Railapur village of Kowdipally mandal in Medak district. Additionally, a lightning strike claimed the life of Kumari Mallesham (33) at Kukunoorpally in Siddipet district early on Tuesday morning. In Illanda village of Warangal district, a 22-year-old man was killed when a tree branch fell on him while he was returning home on a tractor.
