Telangana tunnel collapse: Four trapped workers located
What's the story
The Telangana tunnel rescue operation has entered its eighth day, with over 500 personnel working round the clock to locate and extract eight trapped individuals.
State Minister Krishna Rao confirmed four of these workers have been located.
Various teams and advanced equipment, including plasma cutters and Brocho cutting machines, are being used in the operation.
Rumor dismissal
District collector refutes rumors of bodies found
Nagarkurnool District Collector B Santhosh has debunked rumors doing rounds of photos of human bodies among the debris.
He strongly refuted the claims, saying, "We have noticed that some fake news is going on that some bodies have been found. That news is not true."
He requested the media to not propagate such falsehoods and promised any such news would be officially released from his office.
Rescue assistance
Singareni Collieries and South Central Railway aid rescue efforts
Following government directives, the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd has sent 200 personnel to aid in the ongoing rescue operations.
South Central Railway has also sent teams with advanced tools like plasma cutters and Brocho cutting machines.
SCR Chief Public Relations Officer A Sridhar confirmed the development.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) have also been involved in the rescue operations.
Worker identification
Trapped workers identified, employed by Jaiprakash Associates
The eight people stuck inside the tunnel have been identified as Manoj Kumar and Sri Niwas from Uttar Pradesh, Sunny Singh from Jammu & Kashmir, Gurpreet Singh from Punjab, and Sandeep Sahu, Jegta Xess, Santosh Sahu, and Anuj Sahu from Jharkhand.
The group includes two engineers, two operators, and four laborers. All of them worked for Jaiprakash Associates—the contracting firm for the SLBC tunnel project.
