Telangana man die in Saudi desert after losing GPS signal
A 27-year-old Indian man from Telangana and his Sudanese colleague tragically lost their lives due to severe dehydration and exhaustion in Saudi Arabia's Rub' al Khali desert. The deceased, Mohammad Shehzad Khan, had been employed with a telecommunications firm in the country for three years. According to Telangana Today, their bodies were discovered on the prayer rug, indicating that they had given up hope of survival and were praying as they prepared to die.
GPS failure and harsh conditions led to tragedy
The duo was on the job when they became stranded in the Empty Quarter part of the desert, which is renowned as one of the most perilous regions in the world. The situation worsened as Khan's mobile phone battery drained, leaving them unable to call for help. Their vehicle also ran out of fuel, stranding them without food or water in the desert's extreme heat.
Bodies discovered four days after tragic incident
The Rub' al Khali desert is infamous for its harsh conditions, extending over 650km across Saudi Arabia's southern regions and into neighboring countries. During daytime, temperatures can soar as high as 55 degrees Celsius. The bodies of Khan and his colleague were found in the sand dunes on Thursday, four days after the tragic incident.
