Tej Pratap hasn't changed his mind, wants divorce from wife
Reports that former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav has changed his mind about divorce with wife Aishwarya Rai were quashed on Thursday when Lalu Prasad Yadav's son told a family court that he wanted separation. Aishwarya has been asked to appear before the court on January 8, 2019. After the proceeding, Tej said he will fight for justice till 'last breath'.
Backstory: Tej sought divorce merely six months after marriage
Tej, whose wedding with Aishwarya gave RJD loyalists a reason to celebrate, said he wanted to be separated merely six months after being married. He cited lack of compatibility as the reason and told reporters once, "I'm the North Pole and she's the South Pole." He said he was a simple man, and Aishwarya, who has studied at Delhi University, lived a 'big-city' life.
RJD supremo's family in distress after Tej's decision
Tej's decision has upset the family and reports claimed this worsened the health of his father Lalu. His mother Rabri Devi also didn't keep the Chath fast due to the domestic tension. Meanwhile, Tej is sad that his family sided with Aishwarya, the daughter of RJD leader Chandrika Rai, in this matter. The marital problems soon spilled to court and caught media attention.
People come to court to see what's happening
Tej was represented by Supreme Court advocate Amit Khema and an advocate of Patna civil court Yashwant Kumar Sharma. Since morning dozens of people assembled at court to learn what's happening. The crowd prompted Tej to request an in-camera hearing, and finally, it was conducted in the judge's chamber. Sharma said Tej kept his stand. He too was asked to appear on January 8.
Will fight for justice, Tej says later
Walking out of court, Tej said, "I will fight for justice till my last breath." Notably, Tej's friends have also said he is adamant and wants a divorce. Chances of him changing his mind are unlikely, they said.
