Delhi Police chief gets bomb threat email, minor picked up
A teenager was picked up by the Delhi Police for allegedly sending a threatening email to the Delhi Police headquarters on Thursday. The email, addressed to Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora's official account, falsely claimed that a bomb had been planted in the Nangloi area of Delhi. "A bomb is going to explode in that school today. Do whatever you want to do now at 2.18," the threat email read.
Investigation and apprehension of the minor
Upon receiving the email, Commissioner Arora's office promptly alerted authorities and instructed both the Special Cell and Crime Branch to investigate. The police sought assistance from Google and later conducted a raid, apprehending the minor outside his home in Outer Delhi. The boy had created an anonymous email account and used a new SIM card for this act, the Indian Express reported. He was later handed over to his parents after proper counseling.
Hoax threats cause panic in Delhi-NCR region
This incident occurred amidst a series of similar hoax threats sent to over 150 schools in the Delhi-NCR region. The emails contained threats to "blow up" the premises. Notably, Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri received two separate hoax emails from different accounts threatening to bomb their premises. These threats were later confirmed as false alarms after thorough investigations by the police.
