Chennai techie convicted of rape-murder of seven-year-old Hasini
A 23-year-old techie in Chennai has been convicted of the rape and murder of seven-year-old Hasini last February. The quantum of sentence hasn't been announced yet. Dhasvanth has been held guilty of kidnapping, murder, causing disappearance of evidence and more. During the trial, he kept threatening Hasini's father that he would murder her younger brother too.
The rape-murder of the minor and his mother's killing
Hasini went missing from her apartment complex in Mugalivakkam on February 7, 2017. Probe revealed that Dhasvanth, who lived in the same building and was involved in petty thefts, had raped her, hid her body for a day and then burnt it. He was arrested but later released on bail. Shortly after, he murdered his mother and escaped with her jewelry in December.
'Bailing him out biggest mistake of my life': Dhasvanth's father
Dhasvanth was nabbed four days later, only to escape the next day, and was arrested again a day later. The techie said he would have killed his father too had he arrived home from work on time. His father then withdrew legal support from Dhasvanth, saying, "(Bailing him out) was the biggest mistake of my life. It cost me my wife of 24 years."
Court examines 30 witnesses and 45 document in two months
In two months, the Chengalpet court hearing the Hasini case examined 30 witnesses, 45 document and 19 items of evidence. The state continued providing Dhasvanth legal aid. He allegedly kept threatening Hasini's father in the court premises, asking him not to appear in court.
