Faridabad: Fired employee shoots Tata Steel senior manager dead
Arindam Pal, a senior manager at the Faridabad office of Tata Steel Processing and Distribution Ltd (TSPDL), was shot dead on Friday afternoon by an employee who was fired about five-six months ago. The accused, Vishwash Pandey, was laid off on disciplinary grounds and police believe he acted on revenge. He is at large and efforts are on to nab him.
Pandey entered cabin of Pal, rained bullets on him
The murder took place around 1:10 PM at the office located at Tata Steel stockyard. Police said Pandey entered through the main gate, went straight to Pal's cabin and shot him 'five times in the stomach'. After this, he fled from the scene via another gate. Pal was rushed to Fortis Escorts Hospital in NIT where he was declared dead by doctors.
Pal's wife and daughter had gone to Kolkata for Diwali
35-year-old Pal is survived by his wife and daughter. They had gone to Kolkata for Diwali and are on their way to Faridabad, Ashok Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Mujesar police station said. The post-mortem will be conducted on Saturday. A statement by Tata Steel revealed Pandey was employed with TSPDL from 2015 till 2018. He was discharged from his services in August.
Colleagues say Pandey was aggressive, got into fights often
Tata Steel expressed condolences and said it would extend all necessary help in the probe. Employees of the company claimed Pandey, who hails from Allahabad, was 'aggressive' in nature and got into arguments with senior and colleagues alike. A case has been registered under IPC Section 302 (murder). "We intend to access company records to get a clearer picture of this," Kumar said.
