Delhi: FIR against two Tablighis for defecating in quarantine center
What's the story
In an utterly disgusting incident, two members of Tablighi Jamaat, the Islamic sect that turned out to be the super-spreader of coronavirus in India, defecated openly in a quarantine center in New Delhi's Narela, after which an FIR was registered against them on Saturday.
The accused were identified as Mohammad Fahd (25) and Adnam Zahir (18), hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district.
Details
They defecated outside Room Number 212, revealed FIR
A sanitation worker and House Keeping Supervisor complained that the men defecated outside Room Number 212.
"The persons residing in the room are the suspects for the act, they did not follow the instructions of the health department and government to prevent the spread of the virus. The men put the life of others at risk by jeopardizing the entire containment measure," the FIR read.
Do you know?
They also misbehaved with staff members
Reports said the FIR was registered under relevant sections of the IPC, the Disaster Management Act 2005 and the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897. It is also alleged that the accused misbehaved with the hospital staff. An investigation is underway.
Looking back
Last week, some Tablighi Jamaat members misbehaved with nurses
This is not the first instance when Tablighi Jamaat members have insulted health workers or showed complete disregard for the health of others.
Last week, a couple of them roamed about half-naked inside a quarantine facility in Ghaziabad, kept asking for cigarettes, and sang obscene songs for nurses.
Six nurses flagged the incident, and subsequently, police were informed about it.
Aftermath
Thereafter, Adityanath ordered to book Tablighis under NSA
Fuming at the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered that no female police officers or women nurses will remain stationed at the wards where Tablighi Jamaat members are kept.
He also ordered to book the unruly members under National Security Act (NSA), saying that the crime they have committed goes against humanity.
He promised to bring the members to justice.
Event
Tablighi Jamaat became India's coronavirus super-spreader
An event organized by Tablighi Jamaat in Nizamuddin Markaz became India's biggest domestic source of coronavirus.
For several days in March, thousands stayed at the 100-year-old mosque complex, possibly got infected from foreign clerics, and returned to their homes, putting others at risk.
Every fourth case in India is linked to the Jamaat and it's the reason India's cases are doubling every 4.1 days.
