Air India's Delhi-Vizag flight receives hoax bomb threat
A suspected bomb threat on Air India flight AI-471, en route from Delhi to Vishakhapatnam, was declared a hoax on Wednesday. The Director of Visakhapatnam Airport, Raja Reddy, confirmed that the threat was initially reported by a passenger in Delhi to the local police. This information was then relayed to Air India security officials and subsequently to their counterparts in Vizag.
Thorough security checks reveal no threat
Upon landing at Visakhapatnam Airport, the aircraft underwent a thorough inspection by Air India security and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) team. "Following the landing of the aircraft at Visakhapatnam Airport, the aircraft was thoroughly checked by Air India security and subsequently by the CISF team," Reddy said. The authorities found no issues with the plane, confirming that it was a false alarm.
Flight operations resume after security clearance
Following the comprehensive security checks, the aircraft was cleared for boarding departing passengers to Delhi. "After carrying out all the security protocols under the circumstances, the aircraft was cleared for boarding departing passengers to Delhi," Reddy added. Delhi police are trying to apprehend the passenger who gave the incorrect information to the authorities.
