PM inaugurates Parakram Parv on second anniversary of surgical strikes
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated Parakram Parv exhibition at the military station in Jodhpur to mark the second anniversary of the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army across the LoC. Soon after his arrival at the Battle Axe Ground at the military station, the PM signed a message and paid floral tributes to martyrs at the Konark War Memorial.
Events to be held to commemorate the valor of soldiers
Accompanied by Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, the PM took a round of the exhibition, showcasing combat capabilities of the Indian Army. After that, Modi and Sitharaman proceeded to attend the Combined Commanders' Conference scheduled at the Jodhpur Airforce Station. This was among a variety of events that are being held from September 28-30 to commemorate the valor of soldiers.
Conference to be held on contemporary issues on national concern
Defense Spokesperson Col. Sombit Ghosh said the conference will "have deliberations among the prime minister, the defense minister, chiefs of all the 3 defense services, and some senior officials on general issues on national concern." The surgical strikes were carried out on September 29, 2016, by the Indian Army across the LoC in response to an attack on its base in Uri earlier that month.
