Goa-CM Parrikar responding well to treatment in US: Suresh Prabhu
Union Minister Suresh Prabhu said that ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is responding well to medical treatment in the US and also expressed hope that he will return home soon. 62-year-old Parrikar is suffering from a pancreatic ailment and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in the USA, where he was admitted in the first week of March. Parrikar underwent treatment at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital in February
The Goa CM took ill on 14 February following which he was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital. He was discharged from the hospital on 22 February. The same day, Parrikar, who also holds the finance portfolio, returned to Goa to present the budget in Assembly.
Was re-admitted to Lilavati and later shifted to US
A few days after the budget presentation, Parrikar was admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) near Panaji due to dehydration. He stayed at GMCH for four days and was again admitted to Lilavati Hospital on 5 March; he was later taken to the US. A three-member Cabinet Advisory Committee was constituted to handle the day-to-day affairs of the government in Parrikar's absence.
