This Chartered Accountant runs 'Super-45' for CA aspirants: Details here
Just like how mathematician Anand Kumar runs 'Super 30' for underprivileged IIT aspirants in Patna, Surat-based Chartered Accountant Ravi Chhawchharia has been helping economically backward students prepare for CA exams through the 'Super 45' or 'CA Stars Program'. Through the educational program, Chhawchharia aims to provide quality education and coaching to underprivileged children, who are talented and aspire to become CAs. Here's more.
What exactly is the CA Stars Program?
Chhawchharia runs the 'CA Stars Program', a special and comprehensive education program, in Surat for CA aspirants from financially weaker backgrounds. Every year, around 45 students are chosen for the program and provided free coaching to prepare for the CA exams. Chhawchharia, who is also an author, has been teaching such students for free under the program for three years now.
Free food and accommodation facilities provided for non-local students
Every year, after selecting 40-45 students for the program, Chhawchharia uses an all-round teaching methodology to help them prepare for the CA exams. Apart from training, his institute also provides food and accommodation facilities for four years at no cost for students coming from outside Surat. A majority of the students belong to small towns and villages and come from non-English medium government schools.
How are students selected for the CA Stars Program?
Students are chosen for 'CA Stars Program' by Chhawchharia through an exam, following which the financial status of those who have qualified is assessed. According to Chhawchharia, many of his students, CA Stars, are the first-generation learners of their families. Most of their parents are small farmers, rickshaw drivers, low-wage workers, footpath vendors while some of them are orphans.
Entire cost of program is borne by Chhawchharia
According to Chhawchharia, 90% of his students successfully cracked Chartered Accountancy exams (at all three levels) over the last three years. Notably, he bears the entire cost of the program alone and doesn't take any money or donations for the same.
CA Chhawchharia on CA Stars Program and the students
"These children come from a very humble background. We arrange food and lodging for those coming from outside Surat," CA Chhawchharia was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. "We select students through a test, assess their financial status by visiting their houses, and enroll them. 90 per cent of them cleared the CA exam in last three years," he said.
