    Haryana CM react on string of rapes, promise efficient action

    What's the story

    Haryana CM ML Khattar reacted on the string of five rapes in the state calling the incidents "unfortunate" and promised efficient action from the government.

    Khattar said that he would open 1090 helpline for quick action meted out to women in trouble and establish special courts for quick trials of such cases.

    Here are the details about the string of rape cases.

    Context

    Ruling BJP held responsible for rape string in Haryana

    Earlier, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda of Congress blamed the BJP government headed by Khattar in Haryana of "lawlessness" and "lack of leadership" resulting in the increased rape incidences.

    The comment came after five incidents of brutal rape were reported from five districts - Pinjore, Panipat, Hisar, Jind and Faridabad - in 5 days, sending shock waves throughout the nation.

    Case 1

    Nirbhaya on repeat: Mutilated body in Jind

    In what rekindled memories of Nirbhaya, a minor girl's body with mutilated parts was recovered from Jind district.

    After an autopsy, it was reported that the girl was drowned and murdered by several people who possibly kidnapped her.

    Assailants allegedly performed necrophilia on her and brutally damaged her sexual organs.

    Two special investigation teams were constituted by the Jind police to probe the case.

    Case 2

    23-year-old abducted and raped in Faridabad

    On January 13, a 23-year-old working woman was abducted and raped by multiple men in a moving car in Faridabad.

    She was returning home from work when she was abducted into the moving vehicle. Three men raped her while one drove the car.

    An FIR was registered and a SIT was instituted to probe the case. No arrests have been made in the case.

    Case 3

    Rape of minor in Panipat

    On January 14, another half-naked body of an 11-year-old minor was found in the Urlana Kalan village of Panipat district.

    The girl, identified as a Dalit went missing while she went to throw her garbage.

    Two of the girl's neighbor, 28-year-old Pradeep Kumar and 22-year-old Sagar have been arrested after police carried investigation.

    The two admitted to the crime, according to the police.

    Case 4

    Private parts of 10-year-old mutilated

    In yet another brutal case, a 50-year-old man was arrested for mutilating the private parts of a 10-year-old girl by inserting a wooden stick while she was playing outdoors in Pinjore district, Haryana.

    The man is a relative of the girl and has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

    He was arrested after the girl's parents lodged a complaint against him.

    Case 5

    The shocking rape of a 3-year old in Hisar

    The most recent case was reported of a 14-year-old boy raping a 3-year-old infant in Hisar late evening on Tuesday.

    The boy was a neighbor who compelled the infant to go somewhere while her parents were away and raped her.

    The teenage boy was arrested after he fled from the spot, allegedly asking the infant to not speak up on the matter.

    Ironically, rapes increase after Haryana boasts high sex-ratio!

    The shocking string of rapes in Haryana came days after the state recorded its highest sex-ratio of all time which stood at 914 girls out of 1,000 boys in 2017.
