Strange light seen over Gujarat village causes panic
What's the story
Residents of a small Gujarat village were shocked to see an unexpected flash of light in the night sky on March 17, 2025.
The incident happened near Paiya Varnora village in Bhuj's Rankandhi area.
Witnesses said the light was so bright that it lit up the whole sky for a few seconds, and panic spread among the villagers.
Source speculation
Uncertainty surrounds source of celestial event
The source of the mysterious light is yet unknown. While some villagers speculated it could be an alien sighting, others said it might be a meteorite.
CCTV footage captured the unusual event, adding to the intrigue surrounding its origin.
However, this isn't an isolated incident. Similar sightings have been reported across several villages in Gujarat over the past few weeks.
Karachi incident
Similar phenomenon observed in Karachi
Coincidentally, a similar incident happened in Karachi the same night as the Gujarat sighting.
A bright streak of light was seen blazing across the sky, with reports suggesting multiple flashes were seen early Monday morning. Some suggested it created a loud impact.
This phenomenon was also attributed to a meteorite entering Earth's atmosphere, after Fajr prayers.
Shower connection
Meteor shower linked to recent celestial events
The meteors behind the recent spectacular shows in both Gujarat and Karachi are believed to belong to the Gamma Normids meteor shower.
This annual phenomenon arrives around this time every year, usually between March 7 and 23.
The shower is named after Gamma Normae, a star in the southern hemisphere's Norma constellation, and is known to create dazzling celestial spectacles on Earth.
