Meghalaya: Rape accused MLA appointed to state Assembly panels
Meghalaya legislator Julius Dorphang, accused of raping a minor girl, has been appointed a member of the Committee of Privileges and the Committee on Subordinate Legislation. Dorphang is currently lodged in a jail in Shillong and is being tried for raping a 14-year-old girl. The announcement of his appointment has triggered anger in the state. Mizoram: BPL families to get water tanks

Gadkari announces road-projects worth Rs. 2 lakh crore in Northeast
Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced road projects with a budget of Rs. 2 lakh crore in the Northeast to begin from 2019. These projects would be carried out through the National Highways, Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd and Public Works Departments (PWDs). These roads will promote international connectivity and will also upgrade National Highway-39 from Imphal to Moreh.
