Elections 2024: How to apply for colored voter id card
The Voter ID card serves as an important proof of identity for voting during elections in India. In 2015, the Election Commission of India introduced a colored version of the Voter ID card. Documents required
To obtain a colored Voter ID, you will need a few essential documents. These include proof of your address, a document confirming your age (necessary only if you are aged between 18 to 21), and a recent photograph of yourself. Along with the documents, you also need to pay an additional fee of Rs 30 at your city or district's registration center.
Process of applying online
1. Open the Voter's Portal Service by visiting https://voters.eci.gov.in/ 2. On the homepage, under the "New registration for general electors" box, click on "Fill Form 6," and follow the on-screen steps and guidelines. 3. If you are an NRI staying overseas, you can fill out Form 6A. 4. Fill up Form 6, upload your photo and other details, and submit it.
Process of applying offline
1. Find the closest e-Seva or MEE Seva office in your area. 2. Visit the office with all the required documents. 3. Complete Form 6 with the correct information. 4. Hand in the form along with all the necessary documents. 5. Once the Election Commission of India verifies and authenticates everything, they will issue you a new Voter ID card in color.

To track the status of your colored voter ID application, you can use the following steps: 1. Open the Voter's Portal Service by visiting https://voters.eci.gov.in/ and click on "Track Application Status" under the "Services" tab. 2. Enter the application form number and required details, then click 'Search'. 3. Once verified, the voter card number and E-Seva center number will be displayed.
