Sonika Chauhan's death case: Actor Vikram Chatterjee arrested
Actor Vikram Chatterjee, who was charged with rash driving which led to the death of model-anchor Sonika Chauhan on April 29 this year, has been arrested by the Kolkata Police from his residence in Kasba this Friday morning. The Tollywood actor has been charged under Section 304 of IPC. The actor will be presented before the court later today.
Substantial proof against Chatterjee: Kolkata Police
The high speed of the car was proof that it was a deliberate act by Vikram, said Kolkata Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vishal Garg. Garg also said that the unusual speed of the car just before the crash proved that the car was not in driver's control. Any laboratory evidence to prove Chatterjee's inebriated condition could not be confirmed.
Are Trinamool Party leaders trying to save Chatterjee?
It is being widely speculated that actor Vikram Chatterjee is being shielded by Trinamool Congress Party leaders as some of them control the Tollywood film industry. Another Tollywood actress and state BJP leader Locket Chatterjee too suggested that TMC leaders were pressuring the police to slow down the case. Locket Chatterjee further claimed that Vikram got a bail earlier because of TMC's involvement.
