Sonia Gandhi hospitalized due to bronchitis, fever; condition stable now
Former Congress chief and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on Thursday due to bronchitis and fever. A hospital spokesperson informed that Gandhi's condition was stable and she has been kept under the observation of Dr. Arup Basu, senior consultant of the Department of Chest Medicine, and his team.
Why does this story matter?
This is the second instance of Gandhi being hospitalized this year. In January, she was admitted to a hospital in Delhi for the treatment of a viral respiratory infection. Last month, the 76-year-old sparked retirement speculation with her statement that she was happy her innings could conclude with the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the pan India march of the Congress.
