Soil scam: Now probe begins against Lalu Yadav's eldest son
Lalu Prasad Yadav's list of troubles seems endless. After Tejashwi was sacked from his post, the corruption heat has now turned on to his other son, Tej Pratap Yadav. The newly-formed NDA government in Bihar has initiated an inquiry into the soil purchase scam during Tej's tenure as environment minister. A forest department official has submitted files related to the purchase of soil.
Soil sold to Patna zoo by violating rules: Sushil Modi
Deputy CM, Sushil Modi alleged that the soil excavated from two acres plot on which a mall near Saguna mor was being built, was purchased by Patna Zoo for Rs. 90 lakh. He further claimed that the land belonged to Delight Marketing Company Pvt. Ltd, where Tejashwi Prasad and Tej Pratap are board of directors. The deal happened without inviting tenders, thereby violating rules.
Twice being probed?
Incidentally, this isn't the first time that the soil scam is being probed into. On April 6, chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh had asked forest department to furnish documents related to soil purchase but on April 21, he ruled out the possibility of a scam.
Is Sushil Modi directing his angst towards RJD?
"Soil scam is a very small thing involving Rs 40-50 lakh. Through soil scam we found that Lalu was owner of benami properties worth Rs. 1000 crore and above." said Sushil Modi, hinting that the road for RJD won't be smooth. He also raised issues regarding the 13-acres of land which was gifted to Yadav when he was three-years-old.
