Slain Indigo airlines manager's family meets CM; demands justice
Slain Indigo airlines station manager Rupesh Kumar Singh's family members on Sunday met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and sought justice for the deceased, asserting it was difficult to digest the police's road rage theory in the murder case. The slain manager's wife Nitu Singh, the deceased's children, and his elder brother met the CM at his 1, Aney Marg bungalow.
Deceased's kin demands harshest punishment for the culprit
After the meeting, Singh's elder brother Nandeshwar Singh said, "We met the CM and sought justice for Rupesh. We told him that the accused be given the harshest punishment, if possible the capital punishment by conducting a speedy trial in the case. The CM assured us justice."
Road rage theory of Patna police disputed by his family
Director-General of Police (DGP) SK Singhal, Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Upendra Sharma, and other officials were also present during CMs meeting with the deceased's kins. Disputing the Patna Police's road rage theory, Singh said, "It is difficult to digest that a man was killed over such a trivial issue, there must be something big behind the murder."
Singh was shot dead near his Patna residence
To recall, Singh was shot dead near his residence in Patna on January 12. Bullets were pumped into him while he was waiting for his apartment gates to open upon his return from work. On February 3, Patna Police arrested one person identified as Rituraj while it is looking for three of his accomplices who accompanied him on two motorcycles.
Political leaders demand a CBI inquiry into the case
However, political leaders, cutting across party affiliations, met Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan and submitted a memorandum on February 4, demanding a CBI inquiry in the murder of the airline official. Meanwhile, opposition leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has questioned the government's intention on not ordering a CBI inquiry when both parties, accused and victim, are demanding a probe by the premier investigating agency.
Tejashwi Yadav slammed Kumar for not taking timely action
"What is he (CM) waiting for? Is he waiting for the evidence to be destroyed completely?" the RJD leader asked. Yadav further said, "CM should relinquish the home department with immediate effect as he is tired and has become a burden on the state." Nitish Kumar and his police have lost both credibility and balance, the RJD leader quipped.
Meanwhile, the accused's wife accuses police of disrobing her
Further, a video posted by Yadav on Twitter shows Rituraj's wife making startling revelations about how police obtained a confessional statement from her husband by disrobing her in front of him. "When my husband confessed the crime, only then police set me free after two days and two nights," she said alleging that her clothes were taken off during the torture.
