Animal activist wants to know how bird got clearance
Ludhiana-based wildlife activist and Honourary State Animal Welfare Officer Dr. Sandeep K Jain filed a complaint with the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau of the government of India, claiming the partridge violated the Animal Act. He wants a probe on how the bird got customs clearance. The bird was gifted to Sidhu when he visited Pakistan for the groundbreaking ceremony of Kartarpur border.
Sidhu meets Singh after words sparked controversy
This was the first time Sidhu and Singh met after unsavory remarks sparked a controversy. About Sidhu's visit to Pakistan, Singh said he asked him to reconsider it and emphasized he was wasn't sent by the state but went on a personal invite. On returning, Sidhu said his captain was Rahul Gandhi, who sent him there, and after backlash claimed statements were misconstrued.
What happened at the meeting
The meeting lasted half an hour during which Sidhu clarified his 'my captain' remark, reports said. For the last few days, Sidhu was campaigning for Congress in poll-bound states and returned to Punjab after a thumping victory. The high-decibel campaigns hurt his vocal chord and he is now recuperating. He also inquired about Singh's health and wished him a speedy recovery.
