What's the story
CCTV footage has revealed shocking details in the murder case of Himani Narwal, a 22-year-old Congress worker from Haryana.
The video shows Sachin Kumar alias Dhillu, the prime suspect and a Khairpur village resident in Jhajjar, carrying a suitcase, allegedly containing Narwal's body.
Rohtak range Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Krishan Kumar Rao said Kumar had visited Narwal's house on February 27 and stayed overnight.
Crime details
Murder suspect strangled victim with phone charger cable
According to ADGP Rao, an argument broke out between Kumar and Narwal over some issue on February 28.
Subsequently, Kumar allegedly strangled Narwal with a phone charger cable. After killing her, he packed her body into a suitcase and abandoned it near the Sampla bus stand along the highway.
Police revealed Kumar had been in contact with Narwal through social media for about one-and-a-half years and had frequently visited her house over the past six to seven months.
Post-crime actions
Suspect stole valuables, transported them on victim's scooter
After murdering her, Kumar stole valuables from Narwal's home and carried them on her scooter to his shop in Jhajjar.
He returned to her house later to cover his tracks.
On February 28, Kumar left Narwal's house with the suitcase containing her body. He took an auto-rickshaw to Delhi Bypass in Rohtak and then a bus to Sampla, where he dumped the suitcase in bushes near the bus stand.
Investigation findings
Forensic analysis reveals struggle during murder
Forensic analysis also revealed bite marks and scratches on Sachin's hands, suggesting that Narwal fought back during the struggle.
Authorities are still probing the exact motive behind the murder, with financial disputes being a possible factor.
Narwal's family cremated her body after initially refusing until justice was served. Her brother has demanded severe punishment for the accused.
Family's response
Victim's mother expresses dissatisfaction with police investigation
Narwal's mother, Savita Narwal, was unhappy with the police probe and suspected Congress members were jealous of her daughter's success.
"My daughter did not have close friendships with anyone... I want the administration to tell me why my daughter was killed," she said.
Savita Devi remembered Narwal had campaigned for elections but was disillusioned by politics.
She added her elder son was murdered in 2011 and she never got justice, and now feared for her other son's life.
