Woman Shiv Sena leader cheated of Rs. 9L, 4 booked
A woman Shiv Sena leader has been allegedly duped of over Rs. 9 lakh by four persons in Thane district of Maharashtra, police said today. It all started when Jyoti Thakare, chairperson of the Maharashtra government-run Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal, which helps women entrepreneurs, said she needed about Rs. 7 crore loan to run her businesses properly, and the accused offered to help.
Accused took Rs. 60,000 last year but didn't facilitate loan-disbursal
Thakare said in her complaint that she owned a petrol pump and another business and needed the loan to run them properly. Two of the accused offered to arrange the loan last year through a private financial firm and sought Rs. 60,000 from her as their charges. However, even after taking the money from her they did not facilitate loan disbursal.
Two other men offered help, took Rs. 8.5L from Thakare
Later, two other men offered to help Thakare and allegedly took Rs. 8.5 lakh from her but failed to arrange the loan. When they gave evasive replies after several reminders, Thakare lodged a complaint against all the four men at the Naupada police station yesterday.
No arrest yet, accused booked under IPC section 420, 406
Based on the complaint, the police have registered offenses against Amit Koli, Prashant Kadam, Balchandra Palva and Omkar Hatle alias Amit Patil, all hailing from Thane district. The charges are booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust), said police. No arrest has been made so far, they said, adding that a probe was into the matter.
