Shankar IAS Academy founder takes his own life in Chennai
In a tragic incident, Shankar Devarajan, the founder and CEO of popular civil services coaching institute Shankar IAS Academy, was found dead at his residence in Chennai. Following the discovery of the body late on Thursday night, Devarajan was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. Reportedly, the 45-year-old professor took his own life owing to personal reasons. Here's more.

The 45-year-old hailed from Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu and founded the Shankar IAS Academy in 2004 in Anna Nagar, Chennai. Notably, his academy was the first in the state aimed at coaching IAS and IPS aspirants. Over the years, the academy became an institute of national repute, and churned out hundreds of officers who are currently serving in different states.
Students shocked, condolences pouring in from all parts of India
Understandably, the death of Devarajan has shocked many of his current and former students, and condolences are pouring in from all parts of the country. Commenting on Devarajan's death, MLA R Natraj said, "He was a very sincere and knowledgeable youngster...More than a teacher, he was a friend and guide to his students." Natraj has taken classes at the academy since 2010.
