Kashmir: Another youth abducted, marking seventh abduction in four days
Another youth has been abducted by unidentified gunmen from Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district, marking the third such abduction in 24 hours, and the seventh abduction in just four days. The latest abduction, of 19-year-old Suhail Ahmed, took place on Sunday morning, just 48 hours after the bullet-ridden body of a teenager was found in the neighboring Pulwama district. Here's more.
Abductions in Kashmir has spiked over the last few days
Earlier, Huzaif Ashraf, Shahid Ganaie, and Farooq Thokar were abducted by militants from a bakery in the Saidpora Payeen village of the Shopian district. Hours after the abduction, Huzaif's body was found 10km away from the spot of abduction. Further, local reports said that two more civilians had been abducted from the Meemender village of Shopian district on Saturday evening. Police are checking the authenticity of the reports.
On Thursday night, an 11th-grade student was brutally executed
On Thursday night, the body of an 11th-grade student, Nadeem Manzoor Dar, was found in the Pulwama district. Dar had been abducted on Thursday evening, and had been taken to Niklora Pulwama, where police discovered his body. A video of Dar's execution was also released on social media by Pakistan-based terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. The video showed the student being shot multiple times in the head.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, security forces gunned down two terrorists
Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, Indian security forces gunned down two terrorists in an encounter in the Shopian district. The encounter took place when security forces were carrying out a search operation based on a tip. During the search, the security forces were attacked by two terrorists, leading to the encounter. One AK-47 and a pistol was recovered from the dead terrorists.
