Rush-hour snag halts services on Delhi Metro, commuters delayed
Thousands of commuters were delayed after services on Delhi Metro's Blue Line were disrupted during rush hours in the morning today. The "technical problem" reportedly involved the pantograph of a train (the overhead connectors to the electricity supply line) on the Noida-Dwarka route getting tangled in the overhead equipment between Rajiv Chowk and RK Ashram. Passengers were evacuated safely through the emergency gate.
Mishap comes just a few days after fare hike
As services were disrupted for about 45 minutes, a huge buildup of commuters was seen on almost all stations on the Blue Line, particularly at Rajiv Chowk. Services were restored around 10:05am, after the affected train was removed from service. The mishap came days after the DMRC drastically hiked fares despite widespread criticism. However, it hasn't yet released a statement on today's issue.
