Pakistani hackers hack Goa Institute of Management's website
The website of the Goa Institute of Management, a top B-school was hacked by a group of 'Pak cyber attackers'. The homepage suggested that the hack was in objection against the "killing of Muslims in Kashmir and in India". 17 websites of various departments of the Goa Government have been the target of Pakistan-based hackers in the last 3 years.
Delhi under hawk eye security cover
New Delhi is under a massive security cover. Delhi Police and the Special Protection Group (SPG), and the Ministry of Defence from the CISF are guarding the capital. Canine squads from the CISF, ITBP, Delhi Police and army are sanitising the Red Fort area. Drone detectors and paragliders have been deployed along with 9,000 men. Delhi Metro tunnel under the Red Fort has been closed.
Areas under high alert
Kashmir has been put under heightened security as the unrest in the valley is expected to lead to terror threats. Uttarakhand security has been toughened after the capture of four Islamic State sympathisers in Roorkie. High alert was maintained across Assam after the Kokrajhar assault by National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-S) militants, which took 14 civilian lives.
Assam witnesses 5 blasts on I-Day; no casualties
5 IED blasts jolted the Tinsukia and Sivsagar districts of upper Assam. No casualty was reported. 12 terror outfits in the northeast like the Ulfa (I) had given a joint command to boycott the Independence Day. CM Sarbananda Sonowal said: "Our security forces are on high alert to pre-empt terror attacks. People are with us, are not cowed down by militant threat".
A police station attacked in Srinagar: One CRPF CO dead
A police station in Srinagar's Nowhatta area was attacked by armed militants. The Commanding Officer (CO) of 4th Battalion of the CRPF was killed and 5 other CRPF men injured in the attack. The attack according to the police took place as PM Narendra Modi addressed his Independence Day speech in New Delhi. Two militants were killed in the encounter.
J&K's CM condemns violence in her I-Day speech
In her Independence Day speech, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti condemned the use of arms by "all sides" even as she urged the powers of India and Pakistan to come together for lasting harmony and progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
