SC rejects Indrani Mukerjea's bail plea in Sheena Bora case
What's the story
The Supreme Court has rejected the bail plea of Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case. Mukerjea had sought bail to travel abroad.
A bench of Justices M M Sundresh and Rajesh Bindal ordered the trial court to complete the proceedings within a year and upheld the Bombay High Court's refusal of her plea.
The court said since the trial is still underway, bail can't be granted at this stage.

It also ordered an expeditious conclusion to the trial.
"We will say the trial be concluded within 6 months. You can complete and then go," Justice Sundresh said.
The Supreme Court addressed the travel restrictions after a special court permitted Mukerjea to visit Spain and the UK for 10 days. However, the Bombay High Court overturned this decision following a CBI appeal.
She then approached the SC.
Case background
Mukerjea's arrest and charges in murder case
Mukerjea, a former media executive, was arrested in August 2015. She is the prime accused in the murder of her daughter, Bora.
Mukerjea, her driver Shyamvar Rai, and former husband Sanjeev Khanna were allegedly involved in Bora's murder, the prosecution claims.
Bora was reportedly strangled to death in a car in April 2012, and her charred body was later found in a Raigad district forest.
