SBI ATM dispenses Rs. 500 notes without Gandhi's image
An SBI ATM in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district dispensed Rs. 500 notes without the image of Mahatma Gandhi on it. SBI confirmed that the incident took place, saying the notes were genuine, but probably had a printing error. They clarified that the notes would be replaced. Meanwhile, the defective currency notes have been sent to the RBI for evaluation.
Faulty notes common after demonetization
There have been several "printing errors" with regards to the new currency notes. Last week another man from Sheopur received a Rs 2000 note from which Gandhiji's image was missing. In another instance in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur, an SBI ATM dispensed fake Rs. 2000 notes. In another ATM, fake notes from "Children Bank of India" were recovered.
SBI ATM sealed in MP
An SBI ATM in Damoh district in Madhya Pradesh was sealed in February, after 2 residents in the area received fake Rs. 500 notes from it, despite having complained to authorities. The notes had no serial numbers.
