For Rs. 2 crore, Sasikala got private kitchen, flat-screen TV
Moudgil had earlier accused Parappana Agrahara Central Prison officials of offering special treatment to Sasikala. For Rs. 2cr, Sasikala got a private kitchen, the ability to leave prison at will and a cell with a flat-screen TV. In fact, according to media reports, Sasikala met 28 visitors in the 31 days during February 16-March 18; prisoners are only allowed one guest in 15 days.
Former DIG (prisons), whistleblower, was transferred after her revelations
Moudgil's report on prison malpractices wasn't limited to just Sasikala. She noted that corruption was rampant among jail officials: certain prisoners were allowed to use drugs and their movement was unregulated. High-profile prisoners like Abdul Karim Telgi received special treatment. Earlier, the staff faced allegations of forcing female inmates for sex. After her report, Moudgil was transferred to IG, traffic and road safety, Bengaluru.
Meet Roopa Moudgil, the hardliner cop
Moudgil, responsible for exposing the VIP treatment being received by Sasikala, has an impressive track record. As an SP in MP, Roopa had arrested then CM Uma Bharti in a rioting case. As Bengaluru's DCP, she withdrew several cops deployed as attendants of VVIPs illegally.
