Gujarat: Study planned for water aerodrome on Sardar Sarovar Dam
What's the story
A pre-feasibility study will be carried out for the construction of a water aerodrome at the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada river in Kevadiya district (Gujarat), about 90 kilometres from Vadodara, state Tourism Principal Secretary S J Haider said.
A water aerodrome is an area of open water used regularly by seaplanes or amphibious aircraft for landing and taking off.

Water aerodomes will provide connectivity to places, boost tourism: Haider
"It's one of the four sites identified for constructing water-aerodromes in Gujarat. The other three are on Sabarmati river, Dharoi Dam and Shatrunjay Dam," Haider said.
He added the construction of such water-aerodromes will provide connectivity to various places and in turn, give a boost to tourism.
Charan Singh, Vadodara Airport Director, who's the mentor to oversee the study, said work would begin soon.
