Maliwal reveals what Sanjay Singh told her after being assaulted
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Swati Maliwal has revealed what her colleague Sanjay Singh told her after she was allegedly assaulted by Arvind Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar, at the chief minister's residence on May 13. In an interview with Times Now, Maliwal revealed that she attempted to file a complaint at the Civil Lines Police Station but was interrupted by numerous phone calls. "I also received a call from...Singh. He told me: 'hum dekhte hain,' kuch karenge'," she revealed.
Singh assured Maliwal of action
"And I was so scared and completely traumatized. I was in a lot of pain after being badly beaten up (by Kumar), so I couldn't stay back to file a complaint," she added. Later, Singh met her at her house, after which he went to Kejriwal's house and also met Kumar. The next day after the alleged assault, Singh addressed a press conference and said the incident was a "highly condemnable" one. He also said that Kumar misbehaved" with her.
Maliwal filed a police complaint on May 16
Maliwal eventually filed a police complaint against Kumar on May 16, two days after the alleged assault. In her complaint, Maliwal alleged that Kumar "slapped" her "seven to eight times" without any provocation and "brutally dragged" her while "kicking" her. She also claimed that no one came to help her despite her pleas for help. In another interview, Maliwal alleged that Kejriwal was present at his residence when she was assaulted by his aide on May 13.
Very hurt by how Kejriwal is behaving, says Maliwal
"I am very hurt by how Kejriwal is behaving. I have been working with them since 2006," Maliwal told News18. She also said that she was victim-shamed, with Kejriwal showing support for Kumar and making her appear a villian. "My friends in the party were threatened not to stand with me. And now finally the CM is saying there are two versions and an unbiased investigation should be done," she added.
Kumar sent to judicial custody for 4 more days
Meanwhile, Kumar, who was arrested on May 18 in the assault case, was sent to judicial custody for four more days on Friday. Kumar was presented before a Delhi court after spending five days in police custody. He was arrested by the Delhi Police last week, days after he lodged a counter-complaint accusing Maliwal of gaining "unauthorized entry" into the CM's residence and "verbally abusing" him.
